The top deck is subject to maximum impact and abrasion, especially its back portion where the boulders fall before moving down the length of the main body. Therefore, depending upon the intensity of these forces, CCS designers may opine to have a Wear Resistant Plate in the back portion and Thick Steel Bars in the front portion of this deck, also incorporating a few steps longitudinally for the boulders to keep moving and get segregated. In case of lower impact load, the top deck may have just a Perforated Steel Plate (with round or square holes). The lower decks (if any) are not subject to such high impact and therefore, are made from Perforated Steel Plate or Spring Steel Wire Mesh, depending upon the application.
